Route 66 by Eaglerider

15 days motorcycle tour - in 2026 Route 66 will be 100 years old - celebrate with us!

On EagleRider's world-famous Route 66 motorcycle tour, you'll travel the original Route 66, also known as "America's Main Street" or "Mother Road." The historic Route 66 is 2,449 miles (3,940 km) long and runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, crossing three time zones and eight states. Route 66 was and remains the path of migrants, dreamers, rogues, and an entire generation of travelers who wanted to discover the vast West. The 1950s were a glorious time for Route 66, when thousands of cars drove bumper to bumper to cross the western border. Hotels, motels, gas stations, classic restaurants, and the "new" America were revived everywhere. Many Route 66 classics, such as gas stations, restaurants, and nostalgic landmarks, have been well preserved to this day. In short, this is THE guided tour of America's guided tours.

Turn your trip into an exciting Harley Tour by renting one of our incredible Harley-Davidson Street Glide Touring Edition, Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, Harley-Davidson Street Glide, Harley-Davidson Road Glide, Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, Harley-Davidson Street Bob, Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra, Harley-Davidson Road Glide Touring Edition, or for a different riding experience choose from our sport touring models like the Yamaha FJR1300 and Yamaha Super Tenere 1200.

Day 1 – Chicago, IL – Arrival
You arrive at Chicago International Airport and proceed to your hotel. Chicago is one of the largest and most exciting of the Great Lakes cities. Chicago's skyline rivals the best in the world. This evening, you'll meet your fellow travelers and tour guides at an orientation meeting at the tour hotel, followed by a welcome dinner before your dream Route 66 journey begins tomorrow morning!

Tag 2 – 187 mi/299.2 km Chicago, IL – Springfield, IL

This morning, you'll pick up your motorcycles and we'll embark on the ultimate road trip. The legendary Route 66 begins at the doorstep of our EagleRider headquarters, shoots through Illinois, and leads to the Pacific coast. From Chicago, we'll ride south along the 'Pontiac Trail' (the original name for this section of road), pass through Joliet, see the "Launching Pad Giant," stop at the wonderful RT 66 Museum in Pontiac, and generally get a feel for the rubber on the Mother Road.

Day 3 – 116 mi/185.6 km – Springfield, IL – St. Louis, MO

Today we're heading toward St. Louis! We'll mostly drive on the two-lane section of the Mother Road, passing through cornfields and small towns that represent the heartland of America. After crossing the Chain of Rocks Bridge (the original bridge where Route 66 crosses the Mississippi River), we arrive in St. Louis. Enjoy the short drive into the "Gateway to the West," St. Louis. This wonderful city rests along the shores of the mighty Mississippi River and is home to great live music and barbecue ribs.

Day 4 -335 mi/536 km – St. Louis, MO – Joplin, MO

Try to get up early to get a good view of the St. Louis Gateway Arch and the Mississippi River in the early morning. We'll quickly leave the city in the mirror as we settle into our saddles and enjoy the rolling Missouri countryside that makes this area so beautiful and fun to ride. We'll stop to see the famous and largest rocking chair in the world in Fanning. Then our route winds its way through the windy roads of the Devil's Elbow! We'll stop to meet Gary at Gay Parita's, a Route 66 icon himself. Tonight we'll spend in Joplin, a city that suffered a massive tornado in 2011.

Tag 5 – 255 mi/408 km – Joplin, MO – Oklahoma City, OK

Today is all about driving! From Joplin, we'll head west through rolling hills and horse-riding landscapes in Oklahoma, passing through the towns of Miami, Claremore, and Catoosa, home of the legendary Blue Whale, and stopping for lunch at a diner in Tulsa. We'll also cross the lands of several Native American tribes. In the 1830s, all of this land was deemed useless by the government and designated as Indian Territory—a convenient dumping ground for the tribes that restricted white settlement in the southern states. The Choctaw, Chickasaw, Seminole, Creek, and Cherokee are some of the tribes that make up this large number of Native Americans. Continuing west, we'll drive through El Reno, over the "mile-long bridge," near Bridgeport, and into Oklahoma City, the heart and soul of Route 66.

Tag 6 -266 mi/425.6 km – Oklahoma City, OK – Amarillo, TX

This morning, we travel along some of the oldest stretches of Oklahoma's Route 66. This was once the land of enormous buffalo herds. This section of Route 66 traversed some of the great cattle trails used in the 1860s to move cattle from Texas to the final stop in Abilene, Kansas. We'll travel part of the Chisholm Trail, which runs through Yukon and El Reno, and stop at the amazing Route 66 Museum in Clinton. After lunch, we'll cross the border into the Texas Strip, the southernmost part of the Great Plains. At the Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the best steaks in Texas!

Tag 7 – 303 mi/484.8 km – Amarillo, TX – Santa Fe, NM

Today you'll leave Texas and head to the "Land of Enchantment," New Mexico. After passing through the world-famous Cadillac Ranch, we'll stop at the midway point of RT 66 in Adrian, Texas! And how about the ghost town of Glen Rio, where you can stand with one foot in New Mexico and the other in Texas? From there, we'll enter the land of the Comanche Indians, where mesas, mountains, cacti, and pines define the landscape as we head into the High Plains and up to Santa Fe in central New Mexico. Santa Fe is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in America and will be our base for the next two nights.

Day 8 – 0 mi/0 km – Santa Fe, NM – Free Day

Today is yours to enjoy the distinctive feel of this nearly 400-year-old city. The blend of cultures is particularly evident in the Southwestern architectural styles so closely associated with New Mexico's capital. Perhaps you'd like to travel along a river village to the ancient Native American town of Taos, enjoy a hot-air balloon ride at sunrise, or play cowboy and explore hiking trails on horseback. Santa Fe offers all this and much more.

Tag 9 – 271 mi/433.6 km – Santa Fe, NM – Gallup, NM

This morning we head south to Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico, with one-third of the state's population. Albuquerque is sprawling in the heart of New Mexico, where the main east-west highway and railroads cross both the Rio Grande and the old road to Mexico. We cross the Rio Grande and head west into the vastness of the Navajo Wilderness. Later, we ride through Grants and along Cibola National Forest toward Gallup, a famous railroad town and Native American stronghold. Enjoy an overnight stay with fellow riders from around the world at one of Gallup's many biker-friendly hotels.

Tag 10 – 283 mi/452.8 km – Gallup, NM – Grand Canyon, AZ

Today is another great day, full of spectacular scenery and Route 66 icons. We cross the border into Arizona and drive into Petrified Forest National Park, a petrified, ancient forest with enormous trees uprooted by erosion. Here, we have time to explore this breathtaking landscape and take a moment to lose ourselves in the vastness of the land. After leaving Petrified Forest National Park, we travel further west to the Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook and stop to stand on the "Corner in Winslow." Most groups stay overnight in Flagstaff or Williams, Arizona, but we continue on to spend the night just a mile from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon! Tonight, you'll enjoy a cold drink while watching the sunset over the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The dream comes true!

Member 11 – 256 mi/409.6 km – Grand Canyon, AZ – Laughlin, AZ

For those who would like a bird's-eye view of the Grand Canyon, we can arrange a helicopter flight over the heart of the South Rim. Later in the day, we'll have plenty of time to drive along the rim and take plenty of photos. Afterwards, we'll leave the Grand Canyon and head back to Route 66 in Williams, AZ. We'll make stops in the famous towns of Seligman, Hackberry, Kingman, and Oatman before arriving in Laughlin.

Member 12 -129 mi/206.4 km – Laughlin, AZ – Las Vegas, NV

Today is time for a little detour to experience the incredible sights in Las Vegas. But first, we'll drive through the old ghost town of Oatman and travel over the famous Hoover Dam. One thing is for sure, your time in Las Vegas may be short, but it's definitely worth it! Try to get some sleep, because tomorrow is a busy day.

Tag 13 – 282 mi/451.2 km – Las Vegas, NV – Victorville, CA

Today we cross the border into our last state on Route 66 – California! One thing is certain, today will be a day like no other. Today we will cross the Mojave Desert, which offers some pretty dramatic landscapes in Southern California. You can probably imagine what it must have been like for the first travelers on Route 66 as they made their way through this vast expanse of desert. Tonight we celebrate our last night on the "Mother Road."

Tag 14 – 124 mi/198.4 km – Victorville, CA – Los Angeles, CA

Today we're heading toward our destination—the end of the road at the Santa Monica Pier! To get there, we first have to ride 66 miles on the Angeles Crest Highway through the mountainous region of the Angeles National Forest. This highway is considered one of the best motorcycle routes in Southern California, rising over 7,500 feet. We'll then ride down the Crest to Los Angeles and head toward the Pacific Ocean. Motorcyclists always have mixed emotions when they see the "End of the Trail" sign on the Santa Monica Pier. A feeling of joy and euphoria at having completed a journey most can only dream of, and a feeling of sadness at the realization that the ride is now over. Tonight, we'll celebrate the miles we've ridden and the new friends we've made with a farewell dinner together!

Day 15 – 0 mi/0 km – Los Angeles, CA – Departure – Departure

Today your adventure ends in Los Angeles. Please let us know if you'd like to spend an extra night or two in LA. We can also arrange a rental motorcycle at a great price! See you next year!
