The Colorado Rockies are among the most impressive motorcycle regions in North America

Vast mountain ranges, lonely highways, winding mountain passes, and small Western towns make this trip a true experience for every biker. It's not just about getting there, but about every single kilometer in between.

This route unfolds its special appeal, especially as a self-guided tour. You travel independently, stopping wherever you like, enjoying viewpoints, spontaneous stops and exactly the moments that make a trip unforgettable. At the same time, you follow a well-thought-out route that will surely lead you to the most beautiful highlights of the region.

A particular focus is placed on the legendary mountain passes of the Rockies. The landscape constantly alternates between deeply incised valleys, high alpine sections and wide plains. A new panorama opens up behind every bend – and that's exactly what makes this tour so special.

A real highlight is the region around Silverton and Durango. Here you will experience the Rockies in their most original form. Those who wish can travel part of this route on the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad – one of North America's most spectacular train journeys, taking you through narrow canyons and along wild rivers.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the highlights of this trip. With its high-altitude roads and impressive views, it offers motorcycling at a very special level. The famous Trail Ridge Road is one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the USA and takes you to altitudes of over 3,700 meters.

Besides the impressive natural surroundings, this tour also impresses with its diversity. From vibrant cities like Denver to charming places like Salida and historic Western cities like Durango, you will experience the authentic West of the USA in all its facets.

This trip is ideal for anyone who wants to discover the real America on their own – with the freedom of an individual tour and the security of a perfectly planned route.

The best time to visit the Colorado Rockies is between June and September. During these months, most mountain passes are snow-free and the temperatures are pleasant – ideal for long driving days and spectacular mountain panoramas.

The height of summer offers perfect conditions: clear air, wide visibility and stable weather conditions. However, it can always get a little fresher at higher altitudes – that's precisely what makes this tour so appealing.

In early autumn, Colorado reveals perhaps its most beautiful side. The famous Aspen forests turn golden yellow and bathe the landscape in a unique light – a real highlight for anyone who wants to experience nature intensively. Outside of these months, snowfall or closures may still occur in the Rockies, especially on the high passes.

I couldn't have imagined better planning for our USA trip. A huge thank you to Micky and especially to Peter! When I had to spontaneously rebook for work reasons, Peter spent almost the entire day replanning or postponing the route and keeping the additional costs as low as possible. That's what great service is all about! I can truly recommend this team to anyone; they truly take care of everything and give you the best tips. I will definitely book my next USA trip with them again. A huge thank you!

A huge thank you to Micky and the entire bikethebest team! I've now booked a tour with bikethebest for the second time and I'm absolutely thrilled again! In 2016 a guided tour with a Harley and this year a self-guided tour with a Ford Mustang convertible. From creating offers to everything related to a trip to America, it was simply perfect! The selection of hotels was very good. Here too, personal wishes were taken into account and the tour was optimized or improved with one or two tips from Micky. The roadbook was really well made and clear. This contained all the documents needed for the trip. Documents for the flight, the hotels, helicopter flight, basically everything booked via bikethebest. Furthermore, route suggestions for the respective daily stages are also available. A particular natural spectacle, Hurricane Hilary, caused some immediate disruption to this year's tour. At this point, a heartfelt thank you again to Micky, who, although it was Sunday in Germany and we absolutely hadn't expected a response, took care of canceling the hotel in Los Angeles and also booking two alternative hotels. This is the sixth (imaginary) star in the Google review. If another trip to the USA is scheduled, it will be booked again with bikethebest!

We have booked the Let's Go West Selfguided Tour for early October 2022. There are two of us in danger on a Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Everything worked perfectly: - great weather - great hotels and motels - great machine - uncomplicated motorcycle rental - great route - super motivated tour manager. He really took the time to adapt the route to us and respond to our requests.
