Finding the treasure in the Silver Lake? Opatija, the pearl of the Adriatic, is the starting point for some wonderful days during which we will get to know a part of Croatia. Look forward to cruising on one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world!

The country we are staying in has many special features to offer us: Croatia is not a big country, yet it is Mediterranean and Central European at the same time, mountainous and flat, maritime and continental. In a relatively small area, you can find landscapes here that you would otherwise have to look for in distant regions of Europe and the world: In Croatia, for example, we find a forested, indented coast with a large number of islands, well-preserved, old Mediterranean towns with narrow streets and stone houses, but also green pastures with dry stone walls on the coast. The mountainous regions are adorned with extensive forest areas, romantic lakes and picturesque villages like in the Alps, but also rough, naked limestone cliffs with deep gorges. The hilly country is crowned by vineyards, medieval castles and fortresses. And we will see some of it ... !

Day 1 – Saturday: The day of arrival
Independent journey to the southernmost province of Austria, Carinthia. The meeting point for all participants and the first overnight stay in a hotel is on Saturday in the Villach/Faaker See area in Carinthia. If you want to come to the start of the trip with a car and motorcycle trailer, you can park your car at the hotel during the tour. At the first dinner together, you will get to know your tour guide and all other participants. Overnight stay in the Villach/Faaker See area, dinner, breakfast.

Day 2 – Sunday: Villach – Slovenia – Opatija 240 km
Our guided tour of Croatia begins and we cross southern Carinthia and Slovenia on selected, beautiful country roads until we arrive in Opatija, Croatia. Even during the Danube Monarchy, the "spa town of Abbazia" was one of the glamorous seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea and still inspires today with its beautiful parks and houses in Art Nouveau style. We move into our hotel near the center of Opatija, which serves as the base for our rally for the next few days. Around the center we will certainly find a nice bar for a cozy goodnight drink. Day 3 – Monday: Plitvice Lakes and Croatian Coastal Road 390 km "Treasure in Silver Lake"
Today we get up early, because there is a lot to see: Croatia shows us some of its most beautiful sides! We leave the friendly Opatija and drive south on the Croatian coastal road "Jadranska Magistrala" past Rijeka. Our goal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Plitvice Lakes National Park. After visiting the park and walking in the footsteps of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand (large parts of Karl May's "The Treasure in the Silver Lake" and of course "Winnetou I – III" were filmed here), we are looking forward to a sensational winding track in the mountains, with many, many curves and some hairpin bends. We are surprised how much the Croatian landscape changes within a few kilometers as we set course for Opatija again. Overnight stay in Opatija, dinner, breakfast.

Day 4 – Tuesday: Rest day
Day 4 of our Croatia tour is all about relaxation. For example, on a leisurely walk along the 12-kilometre-long coastal promenade Lungomare or through the enchanting parks of Opatija. The beautiful architecture, scents of lush gardens and the taste of many delicacies of the region invite you to enjoy. And who knows, maybe one or the other will also discover the legendary Virgin with the Seagull. The small harbor tour with Miro's mini-submarine is always particularly nice.

Day 5 – Wednesday: Island hopping Cres – Lošinj – Cres – Krk 200 km
Have you ever done island hopping on a motorcycle? Today we will visit 3 islands and take the car ferry 2 times! We cross from Istria, the large peninsula in the west of Croatia, by car ferry to the longest island of the Kvarner Bay, Cres (1). Afterwards we stop in a small fishing village on the island of Lošinj (2). Back on Cres we visit a small, hidden village before we take the car ferry to Krk (3). After a coffee break in the picturesque harbour of Krk, we cross the large arched bridge – originally named in honour of Yugoslav President Tito – and leave the island. Back on the mainland, we roll past Rijeka and back to Opatja. Overnight stay in Opatija, dinner, breakfast.

Day 6 – Thursday: Istria hinterland and culinary delights 160 km
We have saved one of the biggest highlights for the last day: If you like medieval towns, you will get your money's worth today! We move away from the coast again and drive to the center of the Istrian hinterland, to the capital of Istria County, Pazin. After a stop with a view of the Mitterburg, which was first mentioned in the 10th century, our route continues to the truffle stronghold of Istria, the town of Buzet. The old town of Buzet is located on the top of a hill and is home to one of the most famous truffle restaurants in Istria. If you like, you can indulge in truffles here for lunch.
The highlight (literally) is the crossing of the Ucka Mountains, to which Opatija owes its evening freshness due to the fall winds from the lushly forested slopes. Over narrow serpentines it goes back to the Opatija Riviera. Day 7 – Friday: Opatija – Slovenia – Villach/Faaker See 240 km
Unfortunately, our extraordinary journey is almost over. We leave Opatija and make our way back to Carinthia. We take a leisurely ride on beautiful motorcycle roads through Slovenia to Carinthia until we reach the Villach/Faaker See area in the early evening. At a last dinner together, we can review the "experienced" experiences. Overnight stay, dinner, breakfast.

Day 8 – Saturday:
Saying goodbye and going home. Today it's time to say goodbye to your new friends. With many beautiful memories in your luggage, you will make your way home on your own. End of the tour. End of the hunt for the treasure in the Silver Lake.
